Ethical Markets -- a TV Show, book and websiteHazel Henderson is recording an important, new weekly half-hour financial lifestyle magazine television series, Ethical Marketplace. It will initially be shown on stations affiliated with America’s Public Broadcasting Service and will be available for transmission worldwide.
Hazel Henderson has been at the forefront of new economic thinking for the last two decades since the publication of her first book, Politics of the Solar Age, Alternatives to Economics. She says: “This new financial series is designed as a platform to raise the global visibility of the growing sustainability sectors: renewable energy, eco-efficiency, socially-responsible investing, corporate social responsibility, new indicators of wealth, progress and quality of life." It will feature real examples of people, companies and organizations that illustrate the “triple bottom line” -- respecting people and the environment while earning a profit. The stories are visually compelling and backed up with solid financial and market data.
The Ethical Marketplace series is steered by a global editorial board of experts and will benchmark the highest standards, highlight the most ethical companies and executives, the cleanest, greenest technologies, and the entrepreneurs, investors, employees, consumers and citizens fuelling this drive toward more ethical 21st century markets. The Information Age has morphed into the Age of Truth. We learn that the values that drive well-functioning markets are: trust, honesty, transparency, fidelity in contracts, human rights, service, stewardship of all resources and the environment. All companies featured on Ethical Marketplace will be screened by rigorous social, ethical and environmental auditing standards.
The companion book to this public TV program is:
Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy
Hazel Henderson; with Simran Sethi, foreword by Hunter Lovins (Chelsea Green, 2007)
This book was written to foster the evolution of capitalism beyond current models based on materialism, maximizing self-interest and profit, competition and fear of scarcity... toward sharing, cooperating and a new abundance.
===========What Does God Look Like in an Expanding Universe?
edited by Jim Schenk
Advancements in science and technology have stretched our understanding of the Universe to the very edge of comprehension, leading many of us to revisit some of humanity's most ancient questions.
This anthology brings together the exciting ideas, images and thoughts of scientists, theologians, thinkers and writers of our time, who have been grappling with these questions of God, Life and Death in an expanding Universe.
With contributions from Thomas Berry, Joanna Macy, Edgar Mitchell, Miriam Therese MacGillis, Brooke Medicine Eagle, Matthew Fox, Brian Swimme and Rosemary Radfor Ruether, this book will challenge your current thinking, enhance your understanding and possibly change your own answers to questions like Who is God? Why are we on earth? What happens after we die? At a time when the old religious myths are leading us to war, speaking of Armageddon, and saying almost nothing about the destruction of the planet, this book calls upon theologians, scientists, artists, poets, and others of all walks of life to reflect on the notion of how amazing God must be, the meaning of life, and what happens after death.
Jim Schenk has mindfully gathered together prose, poetry, and art to present a timeless and timely message of hope for participating in this expanding Universe.

The Intelligent Universe: AI, ET, and the Emerging Mind of the Cosmos
by James Gardner
February 2007, New Page BooksRead the review at

which says "The book is the story of an idea, and the idea is quite simple: The best way to think about life, intelligence, and the universe is that they are not separate things, but are different aspects of a single phenomenon. To take liberties with a popular ballad, 'We are the world, we are the people, and we are the universe.' To state this proposition from the opposite perspective, the universe is coming to life and waking up through the processes of our lives and thoughts, and, very probably, through the lives and thoughts of countless other beings scattered throughout the cosmos."==========

Cosmic Fire / Local Sparks: My Journey into the Universe Story
by Carmel Higgins
A graduate of Sophia Center at Holy Names University in Oakland, California, and resident of New Brunswick, Canada, Higgins tells her own journey and quest as a woman through traditional religion and several movements, including the feminist movement, culminating in an understanding of Great Story of the Universe. Rather than a scholarly presentation, this is a very personal story many can identify with, especially those raised in a pre-Vatican II Catholic spirituality. It also speaks to our younger generation by showing where we have been, where we are, and where we should be going. Michael Dowd recommends it with these words: "One of the most significant things we can do to ensure personal and planetary health is to celebrate our own story as a meaningful chapter in The Great Story: the epic of evolution. Carmel Higgins is a wonderful role model in this regard. Hers is an inspiring story to read. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to live life more fully."
